The College of Theology was founded in 1917 as the Department of Theology at the Chosen Christian College. Since 1945, the department has developed into the leading theological school in Korea.
In accordance with its founding spirit, the College of Theology has been developing advanced educational programs to enhance its academic excellence in theological studies by both maintaining its relationship with mainline theological scholarship in the world and endeavoring to develop a creative approach to so-called "Korean Theology."
The school also aims to provide a well-balanced theological education geared both toward scholarship and toward a living faith for all students, and to nurture future leaders for churches and world communities with an understanding of the diversity of the Christian mission. The Department encourages students to have a double major in collaboration with any other University department. To achieve these objectives, the College also runs an affiliated center called "The Institute of Christianity and Korean Culture."
