Yonsei University Graduate School has established partnership agreements with prestigious universities across 19 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Taiwan, etc. These agreements offer our graduate students opportunities to foster intellectual insights in diverse cultures and academic environments.
1. Dual Degree
Dual degree programs allow students to earn degrees from both Yonsei and partner university by fulfilling the curriculum requirements set by each university according to their respective regulations.
Available Support
- Tuition fee or living expenses abroad
Eligibility Criteria of Support
-
1) Living expenses are provided exclusively for the duration of the Inbound and Outbound students’ stay at the partner university.
2) Scholarship support does not extend beyond the second semester of students’ stay at the partner university.
3) Support is only available during the enrollment semester and is not provided during leave of absence.
4) Living expenses are deposited into students’ accounts registered in the academic management system after verifying relevant documents (enrollment certificates and immigration certificates) to confirm the dispatched students’ stay at the partner university.
5) If the total scholarship amount for a given semester exceeds the budgetary limit, scholarship recipients are prioritized based on the following criteria:
existing scholarship recipients are given priority, equal support is provided by the department, Inbound students are prioritized, and support for Outbound students are determined on an individual basis, ensuring equal support for each student.6) Support is provided exclusively to general graduate students, and students within the Yonsei University Health System and MIRAE Campus are excluded from scholarships.
7) Unless otherwise specified, please adhere to the Graduate School regulations, bylaws, and internal guidelines.

Outbound Students from Yonsei University

1) Selection of Outbound Students
A) Direct admission from Graduate School (one university) : Keio University
- March(semester1) / September(semester2) : Student recruitment announcement (Graduate School → relevant department)
- April / October : Selection assessment of received applicants
- May / November : Dispatch of application documents to the partner university
- June / December : Announcement of results for partner university admission process and notification to applicants

B) Department internal selection (all universities excluding the mentioned university above)

A) Outbound(dispatched) students are those who have been dispatched to the partner university for the respective semester.
While they are registered on the portal system for that semester, this does not imply that they have the same rights as Yonsei University’s enrolled students
under Article 9 of the Graduate School Regulations.-
Enrolled student rights : course registration course enrollment, graduation-related academic procedures(submission of research proposal, thesis evaluation, comprehensive exam) etc (registered courses at Yonsei University during dispatch period will be deleted)
B) After completing their studies at the partner university and being aware of their own graduation requirements, students should consult with
their academic supervisor and head professor to submit the transcript from the partner university as the basis for credit recognition at Yonsei University and
for the review of the dual degree program.

Substitute credit courses at Yonsei University are only valid for courses offerd after admission.

C) Living expense scholarships are disbursed after checking confirmation documents(tuition payment receipts or enrollment certificates, immigration certificates, etc.)
to verify enrollment at the partner university.

3) Academic Procedures and Important Notices
A) After admission to Yonsei University, inbound students must discuss with their supervisor and head professor and fill out the credit transfer approval form
using the transcript received from the home university.B) The department sends this application as an official document to the Graduate School (department → university → Graduate School).
C) The Graduate School processes the application by reflecting it on the academic portal, thereby approving the semester and credit recognition
(GPA does not get applied in this case).D) If an inbound student registers as an outbound student to meet credit requirements at their home university, they do not possess the same rights as
Yonsei University’s enrolled students, as stipulated in Article 9 of the Graduate School Regulations, alongside Outbound students.

A. How to Apply
Submit the following documents to the respective department:
- One copy of the academic transcript,
- One copy of the ’Dual Degree Program Credit Approval Form‘ (including the content of the head professor’s approved course)

Dual Degree Program Credit Approval Form (Download)5. Credit Recognition for Exchange and Voluntary Study Abroad Programs

A. In the case of exchange students, when dispatched through the International Office, it is mandatory to go through the International Office to confirm the recognized semester and credits.
(However, if dispatched by the individual college, confirmation of the recognized semester and credits is required from the respective college.)
B. For voluntary study abroad program participants, recognition is only possible for students who have obtained approval from the Graduate School before dispatch.
(However, for voluntary study abroad programs, semesters are not recognized.)
